2019 GIS Training Events
You may have seen some references in the last few weeks about the upcoming GPS Week rollover. Much like the addition of a leap second every few years, this event will occur automatically and at an odd time of day (in our part of the world) And also like the message changes in the past, has prompted some concern as to how it will affect GNSS users.
Part of the message broadcast by the GPS network is a value for the GPS week. The count began back in 1980 at midnight (UTC) on January 6th. The message is a 10-bit count which limits the range to between 0 and 1023, which means every 1024 weeks the odometer rolls over, back to 0 to start the count again. The next rollover will occur on April 6, 2019. A GNSS receiver not prepared for the rollover may not operate properly.
GPS Week Rollover
We have a number of training opportunities in 2019 for Mapping and GIS professionals. Some courses are approved for CEUs
